My nephew and I have memberships at my local zoo and we find the fall is actually the best time to explore the zoo. The animals are usually much more active during this time than in the hot summer weather - which makes for great pictures!! Another plus of fall at the zoo, the zoo tends not to be as busy as during other times of the year. This means you can explore the exhibits at your leisure, and you often get the chance to talk up close and personal with the zoo keepers, who during other times of the year, like the summer, may be too busy with other people.
