Warming Up Dry Dog Food for Fussy Dogs

My dog was fairly fussy about eating dry dog food. We buy a high-quality dry food but he would not eat it unless a small portion of cooked meat was added to his dry dog food. We did not have a problem with this but he started gaining weight.

We stoppped adding meat but instead tried heating up his dog food first in the microwave for 30 seconds. We do not add any water prior to heating the food. He loves it and no longer requires that meat be added!

We are not sure why he prefers heated food but it should not be that surprising as humans do too. Perhaps the warm food helps him digest it better or perhaps it gives off more odour which he finds appealing. Either way, he is happy eating dry dog food that is heated in the microwave.

If your dog is fussy about eating dry dog food, try heating it to warm it up.

Humane Dog Collars That Prevent Barking

If you have a problem with your dog barking, I recommend trying a citronella dog collar. The colloar is like any other collar that is worn around the neck, when your dog barks, citronella is released which causes your dog to stop barking.

What an innovative humane idea to help a dog stop barking. If you have a problem with the loud, disturbing barking of your dog, give citronella dog collars a try.

Poop and Scoop Bags at the Dollar Store

Everything in the pet store is so expensive. It is not the place to buy "Poop and Scoop" bags.

Most dollar stores have them and you can buy 60 bags for a dollar. They even come scented which makes the process a bit more bearable. This is better than spending more at the pet store or stuffing your pockets with large bags from the grocery store.

Gentle Leaders To Help Stop a Dog from Pulling

I recently starting using a gentle leader for my dog and this has greatly reduced the amount of pulling he does on the leash.

A 'gentle leader' is a leash attachment that goes around the dogs mouth and snout and is attached to the dog leash. When your dog pulls, the dogs face is turned to the side making it uncomfortable for them, which causes them to stop and wait for you. With a gentle leader on, your dog can still fully open his mouth and breathe and it does not impair them in anyway.

Using a gentle leader has significantly reduced the pulling that my dog does and I highly recommend it for your dog, especially if you have a dog that pulls. Gentle leaders are also marketed under the name "Halti" in addition to "Gentle Leaders".
