Possible Painful Swelling and Severe Arthritic-Like Side Effects from Didrocal

My mother was prescribed Didrocal for the prevention of osteoporosis. Shortly after she started taking the medication, she experienced arthritic like symptoms which included severe painful swelling of the feet, legs, hands, arms and back. She could not move, get out of bed, feed herself or walk.
Doctors could not understand what was going on. The doctors did not believe that Didrocal could cause this. She stopped using Didrocal to see if this was the cause of the swelling and pain - her arthritic symptoms disappeared over the coming weeks.
