Walking for Health
shared by Anonymous
Most people think they have to pump iron at the gym regularly to be fit or look good. Or they believe that you have to become an avid runner to be in shape or lose weight. Although these activities are ideal for some people, others simply would not enjoy either of these options and would benefit from a regular walking program a lot more.

I enjoy going to the gym myself, however, on days that I have not had the time to go, or simply feel too exhausted, I put on a pair of comfortable running or walking shoes and go for a power walk. Walking for a period of 30 to 60 minutes is energizing, stress reducing, muscle building, calorie burning and a great overall way to keep in shape.

You will find that if you get into the habit of walking when you don't have the time and energy to go the gym, you will able to keep your weight down easier and maintain your overall health with much less effort. If you have a walking partner, it is a great time to catch up on the day's events or share some valuable time with a someone whose company you enjoy. Or if you are on your own, listening to some soothing or energetic music or a self improvement CD as you walk, is a great way to enjoy your walks even more so.
