Cats urinating on carpeting can be reduced, or even eliminated, if wall to wall carpeting is replaced by area rugs. For some reason, some cats are prone to urinate along walls with wall-to-wall carpeting, and tend to stop doing so when area rugs are introduced. It is also a good idea to use vent covers, since some cats will urinate right into the vents and create an odor problem that is hard to rectify.
