My buddy and I recently got excited about night fishing. Before we did it, we had visions of sitting out on the lake in our boat till all hours fo the night landing fish. We had fished many times on this lake before and had done well.
Darkness presents a very different story. One of the things we did not take into account was just how dark it is out there. You can't tie a hook, you can't see where you are casting, you can't see a bobber, if you are jigging you can't see when your line hits the bottom. You can't see is the bottom line.
The fish were sleeping too. No bites, no action and night fishing quickly fizzled. We were back at the cottage drinking beer an hour into night fishing. Give it a try, perhaps you will have different results but be prepared for some real darkness and maybe a short outing.
